About the Maker

Deborah Freeman the artist behind OEP Soapery

Deborah Freeman is a New Milford, Connecticut native and the artist behind O.E.P Soapery. O.E.P is short for Orange Elephant Patch. O.E.P Soapery was created in 2017 and is thriving as it meets the ever growing consumer demand for Cruelty-Free Vegan Bath & Body Soap Products.

Mission Statement:

Create unique vegan products that are people, plant and animal friendly with the goal to be an alternative to conventional products. To continue to be a community volunteer, supporter of women and women owned businesses, as well as provide sponsorship and monetary support to animal sanctuaries.

About the Brand and the Creator:

OEP Soapery soaps are created using a cold process soaping technique and are scented using both organic and therapeutic grade essential oils and/or skin-safe vegan paraben and phthalate free fragrance. Cosmetic grade vegan micas are used for colorants, and food grade organic vegan oils and butters are used as a base for all her soaps. Creamy organic coconut milk is also used in place of animal milks.

Born and raised in New Milford, CT. Deborah is a Christian, a Navy Mom, and a Grandmother. She is also a community volunteer and board member of the Woman's Club of Greater New Milford. She works part-time as a social service assistant at a skilled nursing facility in her small town.

As an under-employed American, Deborah has learned to use her artistic crafting and entrepreneurial skills to create her own jobs and sources of income. Rather than wait for a company or major corporation to hire her, she created Deba-do LLC and dba O.E.P. Soapery. It's tough to make ends meet in today's economy and as such, this soaping journey was born.

Deborah creates and delivers stunningly artistic and uniquely designed soap bars, fun soapy cupcakes, luxurious liquid soap and more, all from the dining room table in her childhood home.

She created her vegan soap recipe after many long months of research, study and practice, and the accumulation of ingredients and soaping supplies . After testing on family, and friends, some tweaking to perfect the lather, creaminess and luxurious feel, her first consumer bars of soap were ready for purchase. Not wanting to be a "basic” bar of soap, she decorates her soaps and give them her signature "gorgeous tops and swirls".

Deborah looks for uniqueness in everything and strives to create high quality cruelty-free vegan products. As a mother and grandmother Deborah's passion for the use of cruelty-free, vegan and eco-friendly products is quintessential to her family and business values.

Folks often say, "Your soaps look too pretty to use," and to that she now says, "You deserve to use pretty things!"
